Legend Has It
They are a band so epic, their shows’ attendance is measured in body count. Pentakill, a metal band fronted by characters from the League of Legends franchise, was set to release their second celebrity-produced album, Grasp of the Undying. And our mission was to create an immersive listening experience worthy of each face-melting track.

A World Destroyed
We built our listening experience on a theme of celestial decay, where a now lifeless planet is torn apart by some dark force (probably the aftermath of one of Pentakill’s concerts).

Pentakill Mask Reborn
Metal music and iconography go hand in hand. For the album’s ten visualizers, we rendered Pentakill’s mask icon as a battle-tested, heavy metal implement of death.
Iconic Items
Each track in Grasp of the Undying was named for an item (a tool of warfare) from League of Legends. For years, fans have only seen these items only as 50x50 pixel artwork. We re-interpreted these drawings into an arsenal of full-scale 3-D weapons that became the topic of several League messageboard geek-outs.

Listening, Turned Up to Eleven
With Grasp of the Undying playing uninterrupted in the background, users could read band member bios, absorb lyrics, download tracks or just melt into a visualizer. The visualizers were rendered as YouTube videos for Riot’s massive YouTube following.
